rules

..   RULE ONE
I'm here for funsies only. Neither DJ or I have anything to do with any official content. This includes any past, current, or future projects that involve Rick Riordan, PJO universe, etc.
..   RULE TWO
DJ is specifically a daughter of antheia, the goddess that is hiding in the form of thea. DJ's story and relationships is going to end up based a lot on her connection to and with both the goddess that is her mother and the demigod that has been there for her since she got the camp.
..   RULE THREE
Content policing is not welcome on this blog, and all triggers will be tagged triggername tw. If there is something specific that needs tagging that I miss, please gently let me know in private so I can fix it.
..   RULE FOUR
DJ's main verse is set mostly within Percy Jackson & the Olympians and mostly book-inspired. This verse will deal with serious themes such as being out of place in time, war and its after-effects, identity and relating crises, magic, monsters, mortality, and being in dangerous circumstances as a child. It will also deal with the boons and shortcomings of being a demigod in the greek pantheon as relating to the Riordan verse.
Other verses may contain any or all of these themes and at varying levels. If I miss a tag or need to add one, please privately let me know so I can handle it.

..   RULE FIVE
Don't be a dick: no godmodding, no hate, no callouts. Please read all given info, please use regular writing markers (quotation vs asterisk), and make it clear if something is in character or out of character.
Age must be listed somewhere easy to find. I will do followbacks at my own speed. All followbacks will come from everbloomingsoul.
..   RULE SIX
I did my PFP & DJ's banners myself. For the moment we are iconless but this may change in the future.

..   RULE SEVEN
Communication: asks are everyone, IMs are ooc only, but also open. All memes and opens are for everyone, unless they are shippy. Those are moots only and will require previous interaction/plotting.
..   RULE EIGHT
Shipping: DJ is figuring herself out. So, we're entirely chemistry-based for the moment until she yells otherwise; that said, please don't push for a ship. If it happens, it happens. We're multiverse & multiship, but everyone gets their own iteration of existence for writing purposes. If this changes then it will be noted in the mains section.
..   RULE NINE
Important note: DJ is a young camper. Spicy content is unlikely to happen even with aged up threads and verses, but absolutely won't in non-aged up settings. There are no exceptions to this rule.

Marshall Hayes is a young man full of life, often out running boats with neighbors to make sure everyone gets enough to eat when he isn't running boats for tourists to earn a half-decent payday. Somewhere in there is a break for a few days, and time spent with a woman that seems to come from nowhere. She's fun, enthusiastic, and Marshall doesn't think twice about letting someone that beautiful do whatever she wanted with his company. It's only a little while after that he learns she's no ordinary woman but a goddess. News delivered with a bundled up baby and the explanation that, as a half-mortal, meant she couldn't keep the infant. He's too stunned in the moment to do more than numbly accept the baby, wondering how a goddess can look both pained and pleased at such an exchange. So yes, Daisy Jean Hayes is a surprise to her father. Marshall didn't expect (nor terribly want) a child, let alone a daughter. He wanted to keep enjoying his youth when she arrives in his life, spinning everything in a direction completely opposite to where he wanted to go.The saving grace is she takes his life where it needs to go. Choosing between drink and feeding her saves him from a spiral that ends in the bottom of a bottle. Choosing to clothe her no matter how many times she outgrows items saves him from the trap of not needing to budget more carefully and ending up on the streets. Choosing to adore her saves him from a future feeling empty and alone. Every choice that he makes in favor of Daisy leads to a boon in both their lives. And every boon falls away the one day he slips up. One party too long while the pair are on a road trip drags him away from his daughter and the life they could have had. The life they should have had. By the time he realizes she's missing and not just outside playing, it's too late to find her. Everyone, including Marshall including her mother, assume the worst the longer she's gone without a trace, and eventually he returns home heartbroken and guilt-ridden. He never steps foot outside their hometown again, always hoping that somehow she'll one day wander back home.In truth, what happened to the young girl is an encounter both were entirely unprepared for: monsters had found her, and the first instinct was to flee to protect her father. Every time she stopped to rest and thought herself safe, somehow they seemed to catch up. Or maybe they were new ones? She couldn't swear that they always looked the same, too small to think of fighting back and too stubborn to give up no matter how tired or scared she got.

bio

Eventually, somewhere, she ducks inside a building in hopes of losing them for good. The plan had been to take advantage of how clearly large it was and go in the entrance, out somewhere else because buildings like this always had more than one door. But then there's the offer of food. New to her, not like what she's used to at home, and it smells so good that she can't resist. Someone else offers a change of clothes. A room all to herself, with a giant soft bed. All the games she could ever think to play. There were even other kids around, though painfully few close to her age. Distraction follows distraction, terror of being on the run fading to be replaced with wonder for all the neat and fun discoveries to be made in this place. She forgets about home, slowly. Forgets about the smell of incoming rain. Forgets the way her dad always left the laundry on the line long enough to be sun-warmed. Forgets the feel of a breeze not coming from fans. Forgets that this was only ever supposed to be an escape, not a stay. Piece by piece, memory of any life from before she was in this wonderful place seems to fall away. But no one seems to mind, and no one else ever seems to worry, so Daisy doesn't worry either. After all, if something was wrong then surely someone would say something. Then someone does. Well, technically anyway. One of the only kids around her age was checking out loud that he had all his cards. Too far away from her to hear what kind exactly, but close enough to be able to spot one flutter to the ground when he moves to put them in his pack. Daisy tried to call out only to be interrupted by offers about a new game, but for once she ignores the distractions to pick up the card. She has to focus hard to tune out the smell of food she didn't really want no matter how tempting it smells, to see the boy and follow him in an effort to catch up and return it. She had always hated losing anything of her own, and she didn't want him to leave it behind. It isn't until she's blinking against the brightness of sunset that she realizes she managed to follow them all the way outside. There's a terrifying looking lady with him, and a girl who looks similar enough to likely be an older sister, so she just silently holds out the card the longer she's stared at. As soon as he takes it, she runs down the sidewalk. Far, far away from the building before either they or someone from inside could do anything to her. And, she decided, she would keep running until she got someplace actually safe. No matter how long it took.
